G-Shock “Casioak”: GA-2100-1A1ER

Extremely popular when it was released, I jumped on the “Casioak” bandwagon as well, absolutely loving the super-stealthy “triple-black” look and overall design, the octagonal case being very distinctive, yet at the same time, understated, especially for a G-Shock.

The case size is quite slim, making this suitable for more than just casual outings, and it works well with long sleeves.

The backlight isn’t great, and neither is the lume on the hands; and a quick glance probably won’t be enough to tell the time. The digital display is very tiny. It’s all a trade-off between “cool factor” and functionality, with the obvious bias towards style – though it does have all the standard features expected of a G-Shock.

The overall feel and quality of the watch is high, putting it in a different class than the average tool-watch status of a G-Shock. Considering it’s a “future classic”, it’s a great watch to have in the collection.
